Last minute stopover due to the rain Great staff, enjoyed the selection of games on offer at the bar. Good menu and reasonable. Decor needs a bit of updating in places
Great hotel who have a lovely menu. We ate here twice during our weeks visit recently, oh and a third time called for a drink. Very friendly atmosphere.
First-class service, facilities and location. I came away for a few days across Christmas to enjoy some walking and relaxation. From arriving at the hotel I was made to feel very welcome and that nothing was any trouble. The room was spacious and comfortable, and I enjoyed 4 great nights' sleep after my walks. The main thing that stood out was the friendly service and attention to detail. Christmas dinner was first class too. Overall a wonderful place to stay. Great people and a perfect location for exploring Teesdale and High and Low Force waterfalls. I will be back.
Really friendly caring staff. The food was fantastic and beautifully presented. We had dinner, bed & breakfast which was good package price. The bar is lovely with nice choice of drinks. The building is old (beautiful staircase!) and rooms dated, but they are updating over time and the room was warm and spotlessly clean. With fresh cut flowers and nice towels. Don’t be put off by the 2 star status, please support smaller businesses and independents! Many thanks for looking after us and returning my glasses in the post! Maxine.
We booked last minute for new years eve , we have a dog , no issue at all, all the staff were amazing right down to the lovely cleaners we were talking to the next morning . The Owner was brilliant and our dog loved there dog Luna . We ate from the set menu (unreal) then had breakfast next morning great selection, we cant wait to come back..
Fairly priced!! Great staff service!! There was a lovely girl serving us and we were a big group so it was great that they made space for the 8 of us!! Didn’t catch her name but thank you. The food was also great, very well served and tasted even better :)
Nice place for a quick drink. The men’s toilets were a huge fashion shock I was expecting shaft to walk through the door . I’m sure they are in the process of renovation. It was very clean nevertheless. The pub was nice and warm and had a log fire which was very cosy what you need on a cold December day. Will deffo return, we didn’t eat when we visited but the food looked amazing.
Wonderful Sunday lunch here. Excellent value for money and extremely tasty. We'll definitely be returning!
